              Because of national and State of New Mexico recommendations in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Doel Reed Center in Taos Leisure Learning classes and Academic Credit courses scheduled for Summer 2020 are cancelled. 

              Given the current increase in COVID-19 cases, we must cancel the Fall Leisure Learning classes that were scheduled for OctoberThe center anticipates a return to Taos for its Summer 2021 Leisure Learning classes and Academic Credit courses.

              OSU invites you to participate in Leisure Learning classes, designed by expert instructors for inquiring adults. You'll explore the art, culture and recreational experiences that multi-cultural northern New Mexico has to offer.
              As Leisure Learning classes scheduled for Summer 2020 were cancelled due to COVID-19 pandemic, the center anticipates a return to Taos for its Summer 2021 Leisure Learning classes.

              The academic courses are offered in the summer and they cover topics from OSU’s Department of English; Department of Art, Graphic Design, and Art History; Department of Design, Housing, and Merchandising, and various other disciplines.

              Artists and Scholars Program

              Thanks to  generous support from Jim Vallion and Jim & Linda Burke, the Doel Reed Center hosts an annual Visiting Artist and Scholar program. The Smelser-Vallion Visiting Artist and the Jim and Linda Burke Visiting Scholar are chosen from a national pool of applicants for two to four week summer residencies at the center in Taos. During the residency, they produce original works, interact with OSU students, and present workshops and talks in Taos. Later, they give talks and workshops on campus in Stillwater.
